Mount Isa is located 1 825 km n-w of Brisbane on the Leichhardt River dividing this Outback service city into the town centre side (east) and the mining areas (west), ‘The Isa’ is a leading world producer of lead and silver together with copper and zinc. In 1958 the river was dammed guaranteeing plentiful water supplies for the area. Markets each Sat. International Mining Challenge (Apr/May), Isa Rodeo (world’s 3rd largest) (Aug).
